Beauty queens in the country have been urged to be good ambassadors of their states with a view to using their good offices to campaign for peace in the country.
Bayelsa State Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Deacon Markson Fefegha gave the charge while receiving Miss Carnival Anambra as well as Miss Tourism Taraba and Imo states in his office in Yenagoa.
Assuring them about their safety in the state, Deacon Fefegha urged the beauty queens to use their offices to advise young girls to be well behaved and not to throw away the etiquette of the African society.
He assured them that the ministry will give them the necessary support to ensure proper enlightenment on their pet projects in and around the state.
The Information Commissioner however expressed dissatisfaction that in recent years, world attention has been focused on the prevention of HIV to the detriment of the fight against other equally deadly diseases like malaria and typhoid.
Speaking earlier, Queen Ike Sunshine, the Miss Carnival Anambra State said they were in the Commissioner’s office to solicit the ministry’s support in the execution of their collective pet project in the state which is the Education of the African Child.
They commended the State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson and his wife for the hospitality accorded to them since their arrival in the state.
