Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Ndutimi Alaibe has been appointed as the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Tourism Development Board.

Members of the board include Chief Ephraim Fallogi, Fred Nyanayo, AVM Atti Samuel (rtd), Hon. Fyneman Wilson, Hon Claudius Enegesi, Mr. Solomon Apreala and Miss Bini Ayafa.

The board will among other things, bring the proposed Tourism Island to its full bloom and reckoning.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Iworiso Markson, the Tourism Island will form an integral part of the New Yenagoa City which spans over 15,000 hectares of land between the Epie Creek and River Nun in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the State.

The project as stated in the statement will be private sector driven and it is hoped that the board members will use their wealth of experience to attract the much needed private sector participation as well as translate government’s dream of developing a flourishing world class tourism facility.

And, with the confidence in the Chief Timi Alaibe- led board and knowing them for their vast experience and antecedents, it is clear that Bayelsa will within the foreseeable future become an international tourism hub and destination.

The Tourism Island, which is in the early stage of what is expected to be a robust project, will have facilities such as a 6 star hotel, an 18 hole Professional Golf Association (PGA), Golf Course, world class Polo field among other facilities.
