Bayelsa Government Sues for Closer Ties With the Media


The Bayelsa State Government has reaffirmed its determination to work closely with the media to enhance development in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Iworiso – Markson stated this when the management of DAAR Communication, Elebele – Yenagoa paid him a courtesy call at his office in Government House.

Mr. Markson, who expressed delight over the visit, noted that government appreciates the critical role media plays in disseminating its policies and programmes to the public.

The Chief Press Secretary specifically commended DAAR Communication for its objective reportage as well as projection of the activities of the Hon. Dickson – led administration and pledged continued support to the organization.

While calling on the media to play a complementary role to enable government push its developmental agenda, Mr. Markson stressed the need for DAAR Communication to evolve more programmes about the present administration to keep the people abreast of what government is doing.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the General Manager, AIT, Mr. Barry Pereomongu and Head of Radio Services, Raypower, Elebele, Mr. Winston Akpabio said the visit was to reciprocate the kind gesture of the CPS towards DAAR Communication and explore avenues to foster a better working relationship with the government.

While assuring government of the organization’s readiness to co-operate with the present administration, they noted that DAAR Communication will comply even at short notices to publicize key activities of government.

According to them, the visit will also serve as an avenue to generate ideas that will project the image of the state government positively and to collaborate on how best to cover the one year anniversary celebration of Governor Seriake Dickson’s administration next February
