GOVERNOR HENRY SERIAKE DICKSON PARLEYS THE FEDERATED CHAPEL OF JOURNALISTS BAYELSA STATE CHAPTER IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE

In his remarks, Governor Dickson promised to provide a Bus to the Federated Chapel of Journalists and asked them to liaise with the Hon. Daniel Markson-Iworiso the Chief Press Secretary to organize a media event where the earlier promise of the N6million would be fulfilled. Governor HSD said ‘robust journalism can only be practiced in a conducive environment and in this ICT age, the role of the internet cannot be under-estimated” Accordingly, Governor Dickson pledged to pay the rent of the Chapel and provide internet connectivity at the Secretariat.
Governor Dickson assured journalists in the State a new lease of life. He said, governance is not a popularity contest and his administration will on Friday this week pay out N10billion to three construction giants to vigorously pursue rapid infrastructural development. He enjoined Journalists in the State to contribute their quota in building Bayelsa State and urged them to avoid sensationalism in news reportage.
Mr. Willie Etim of the Guardian thanked the Governor for his magnanimity and promised that the media will constructively engage Government with a view to promoting transparency, accountability and good governance. Even within this short period there are signposts of good governance in Bayelsa State, he added!
