Ex-militants, on Monday, called for the immediate removal of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Matters, Kingsely Kuku.
The aggrieved ex-militants made the call in Benin City, Edo State, while staging a peaceful protest over the non-payment of their allowances for 18 months.
They alleged Kuku was responsible for their predicament and urged President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately remove him.
The former militants, who alleged that they were under the Phase II Programme for rehabilitation of ex-militants, stormed the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Benin City, carrying placards with inscriptions like ‘Justice Must Prevail’, ‘We Need Our Money’, ‘Kingsley Kuku Must Go’, ’11 months, no payment’, ‘We need our Money’, among others.
Speaking on behalf of their colleagues, Emomomemi Ezebri and Julius Bank blamed their plight on the manner Kuku was handling the rehabilitation programme.
