Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Mr. Ayakeme Masa said after spending the last three months planning and strategizing, Governor Seriake Dickson is now ready to commence developmental work that will take the state to the next level.
Mr. Masa, who stated this when members of the EKELGA United Front paid him a courtesy visit in his office, said the restoration train has moved from the planning stage to the implementation stage, and called on the people of Ekeremor Local Government Area to be peaceful so as to attract the dividends of democracy.
Enumerating some of the things the present administration plans to do, the Commissioner said, in addition to the one billion Naira released for post-graduate scholarship, government plans to massively renovate primary and secondary schools as well and also build a model hospital in each of the eight local government headquarters.
Mr. Masa, who noted that the present administration would also embark on skills acquisition, said government is dualising major roads in state and has also resumed work on the three senatorial roads to open up the state and attract investors.
On government’s public, private partnership (PPP) initiative, Mr. Masa said the philosophy behind it is for government to own minority shares in order to allow the private sector drive the economy of the state.
While speaking on government’s partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI) to provide loans to Bayelsans, Mr. Masa said it will not be business as usual, pointing out that project monitoring as well as project assessment committees will be set up to monitor and guide how beneficiaries utilise such loans.
The Commissioner used the opportunity to commend EKELGA United Front for their support for Governor Seriake Dickson during the electioneering campaign and the election proper and urged them to continue to be peaceful as no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour.
President of the Front, Mr. Benedict Monday had earlier lauded Governor Seriake Dickson for the appointment of sons and daughters of Ekeremor extraction.
Mr. Monday said the visit was for them to familiarize themselves with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment and called for empowerment of youths and the extension of loans to people from Ekeremor when government starts disbursing such loans……………BAYELSA IS MOVING FORWARD.
