Bayelsa State Government has paid up to date, all outstanding fees of its students on foreign scholarship. The Special Adviser to the state governor on Higher Education, Dr. Godwin Zirikidisclosed this when members of the government team that travelled out of the country to oversee the welfare of Bayelsa State indigenes studying abroad, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Education, Chief Salo Adikumo.
Dr. Ziriki, who noted that the fees were owed by previous administrations, intimated the Commissioner that the team visited all the institutions where Bayelsans are under-going studies,
apart from Ukraine and Malaysia, due to visa problem.
While responding, Commissioner for Education, Chief Salo Adikumo said their visit to the students was in line with the state government policy thrust in ensuring a conducive learning environment for students of Bayelsa origin studying within and outside the country, pointing out that the era of paying lip service to the educational development of the state was over.
Chief Salo Adikumo commended the team for taking the pains to cover all the institutions, to assess the condition of Bayelsa State studentsstudying abroad and thanked the team for demonstrating a high level of patriotism, honesty and transparency while on the assignment and urged them to sustain the tempo.
